David Zaffino, RNP

David is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner who has been working with Digestive Disease Medicine since 2007.In 2007, he completed his Master’s Program from the State University of New York, Institute of Technology, earning a degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

David has additional clinical experience as the Director of Child and Adolescent Services at the Benjamin Rush Center and Villa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio, TX. Additionally, David has worked clinically at St. Luke’s Hospital, Berkshire Medical Center, and the Austen Riggs Center. Other than spending time with his family, David’s interests include skiing, bicycling, traveling, and gardening.

Aida Durmisevic, RNP

Aida  began working as a Nurse Practitioner for Digestive Disease Medicine in May of 2015

She graduated from Utica College with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2011. She worked as a medical/surgical nurse with an interest in wound care at our local hospitals. She went on to SUNY Polytechnic institute, receiving her Master’s of Science in Nursing and became a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2015. She holds National Nurse Practitioner certification through ANCC. She holds privileges at MVHS and provides patient services in our office as well as the hospital.

Aida is a member of the New York State Nurse Practitioner Association and the local chapter. She has been a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society since 2015.

Aida is from Bosnia and moved to Utica in 2002 with her family and currently lives in Utica. She is married and has two daughters. She is family-oriented, and she enjoys traveling.

Karen A. Nesci, RNP

Karen has been an Adult Gerontological Nurse Practitioner with Digestive Disease Medicine since August 2019.

She graduated from Saint Elizabeth College of Nursing in 1996. In 1998 she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from SUNY Utica-Rome. In 2002 she graduated from the New School for Social Research with her Masters in Healthcare Administration. In 2019 she graduated from Stony Brook University’s Adult Gerontological Nurse Practitioner program.

Karen is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the New York State Nurse Practitioner Association and holds privileges at the MVHS healthcare system.

Cynthia Law, RNP

Cynthia began working with Digestive Disease Medicine in the fall of 2019. She is an affiliated member of the Allied Health Staff of Saint Elizabeth Medical Center.

She completed her Degree of Master of Science Nursing studies in 2000 at the College of Nursing, SUNY Upstate Medical University.

After 20 years as a practicing Nurse Practitioner in Gastroenterology /Hepatology, Otolaryngology, Cynthia recently established her own primary care practice, Cynthia Law Adult Health Np PLLC in Old Forge New York.

Before her role as a nurse practitioner, Cynthia was employed by Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, NY, as an endoscopy nurse and providing Homecare in the community.

Cynthia holds her National Nurse Practitioner certification through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners ( AANP). She is an ongoing member of the New York State NP Association and Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society.

In her spare time, Cynthia enjoys playing the mandolin, creating artworks, photography, hiking the ADK, golf, and is an avid paddle boarder.
